In Topic 8 I concluded with stating that communication is the place to start and that critical thinking is a key factor in media literacy. I would use this video with Division 4 students to have a class discussion or debate about the concepts that Sherry Turkle presents about awareness. It is an interesting video, about 20 minutes in length. What is your stance on technology? Please share your comments! Thanks for your comments and questions Kaylee! In order to follow up after the video/debate, I would ensure that critical thinking is encouraged in my classes. I think that critical thinking is the basis for digital citizenship and by reinforcing it, digital citizenship will be reinforced as well. I would definitely revisit digital citizenship at the beginning of every Internet related assignment or project as well. As for what the students would be debating, it would based on the personal statements or beliefs about technology that Sherry makes throughout her presentation. I would probably do up a list of different comments made and those would be the topics up for discussion or debate. Thanks again for your input!
