My Goals as a Teacher
1. Listen.
2. Create and maintain a positive classroom environment.
3. Use a variety of assessment strategies to maintain inclusion, guide instruction and promote meta-cognition.
4. Take the time and get to know each student individually, in the hopes of gaining and maintaining mutual respect and understanding.
5. Use technology effectively within the classroom to ensure students are gaining 21st century skills.
6. Check in with each student, individually, on a regular basis to keep communication lines open and maintain a safe and positive classroom environment.
7. Use my own art skills to enhance lessons and ensure students are being encouraged to use these skills within their own pursuit of knowledge. For example: collaboration, communication, critical-thinking, creativity, multi-media, accountability, productivity.
8. Be a positive leader and role-model.
9. Promote lifelong learning.
10. Incorporate student interests into classroom work and projects.
11. Encourage and model empathy, community connections and global/social/environmental awareness.
12. Provide students with a foundation of knowledge within the arts.
13. Include literacy objectives within every project.
